Lisa
Maffia, 24 has been known as the First Lady
of So Solid, the Jewel in the Crown and the
24 Carat Princess. She's perfectly blended
sweetness and streetness on the melodic choruses
that have taken her to the top. She's become
an icon of high rolling glamour and a model
of determination for young mums everywhere
– and managed all this in one piece
of a 30 strong Battersea Garage troupe. Now
with a debut single packed with enough party
power to shake off the New Year Blues she's
taking center stage. And looking back on it
now she's been waiting for a mighty long time.
Lisa Maffia (her real name) lit up the So
Solid LP with her hook heavy choruses and
even provided a glimpse of her range with
tracks like Skyla, but her solo debut was
always going to be the place where she showed
what she was made of. "This is my time
to shine and show the musical ability that
I've developed, learning from the So Solid
Crew as well; the styles I've picked up, the
singing spitting style, the R&B slow style,
the ragga style"
When
Lisa started recording the solo material she
wanted to draw on in all her musical influences
both past and present. Even though in house
So Solid producers JD, AC Burrell, Swiss and
DanMan created all the new grooves, the result
is a record that is laced with music and lyrics
that will force all those who think that they've
sassed the UK urban formula to reconsider.
