If
you are looking for truth in music then the
SO Solid Crew is the place to start. Starting
as a garage hip-hop collaboration in Battersea-South
London, the group has become a multi-platinum
selling group of extremely talented artists.
The Crew is made up of 20 to 30 members at
any one time with many of them pursuing solo
careers as well, Lisa mafia being the biggest
break-away star as of yet. All the members
grew up together but ut was Megaman who got
the idea to get out of ghetto with music.
“The ghettos in England aren’t
the toughest,” says Megaman. “They
aren’t the roughest. When you travel
the world and you see how other people are
living, the place I’m living ain’t
bad. But it’s bad enough.”
Megaman’s plan has always included world
domination. Their soulful R&B mixed with
bass-thumping hip-hop sound has drawn recognition
from Christina Aguillera who asked them to
join her on the Europe leg of her tour last
year, and Beenie Sigel and Memphis Bleek,
of Jay-Z fame. Swiss, younger brother of Megaman,
Producer, MC and DJ of So Solid Crew, said
this of their goal for international recognition
“Certain things that work in the UK
don’t translate [there] but we’re
working on changing that. We do not have a
presence [in America] – like Puffy,
Kelis, Roc-a-fella and Usher have all worked
with us or checked us as being the UK act
to watch.”
